About Us

Dr (phil) Bettina Brill (PhD Sc; BHSc TCM)

Bettina is a registered practitioner of Chinese Herbal Medicine and has been practicing in Carlton since 1992. Bettina’s academic foundation is in Science, and she has extensive research and teaching experience. Throughout her career, she has been an active advocate for the Chinese Medicine profession, presenting at conferences and collaborating closely with Health organisations.

Her commitment to ongoing learning has taken her to China and Europe for conferences and advanced training. Bettina has also contributed significantly to the profession through leadership and editorial roles. She served as a director of the Australian Chinese Medicine Education and Research Council (ACMERC) and was Editor of its journal. For 20 years, she was Co‑Editor of The Lantern, a respected journal of Chinese Medicine.

She has been a valued lecturer at SSNT/Torrens University for the past 18 years, where she contributes to the education and mentoring of future Chinese Medicine practitioners.

Bettina has a particular interest in women’s health and dermatological conditions. Her clinical work reflects this focus, supporting patients with a wide range of women’s and skin-related concerns.

Michael Kotsanas (BHSc/Ac Dip.CHM, Cert.Ac./China)

Michael has been a registered Acupuncture practitioner at Shen Healing since 1990, bringing more than three decades of clinical experience to his work. He holds a Bachelor degree in Acupuncture and a Diploma in Chinese Herbal Medicine, and he has further advanced his professional training through clinical studies at the Shanghai International College in China.

Michael’s extensive background in sport and martial arts initially informed his interest in natural and integrative approaches to pain management. This foundation continues to guide his clinical focus, with an emphasis on delivering effective, holistic strategies for pain relief and functional improvement.

Fluent in both English and Greek, Michael is dedicated to providing high‑quality, patient‑centred care to individuals from diverse backgrounds.

Sometimes there are obstacles to coming into our clinic, but help is still available. We can schedule phone herbal consultations and send out the herbs to you or have someone pick them up.
